Protest against killing of civilian youth in Jammu

Jammu, August 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a day after a local youth, Murfad Shah, 26, was shot dead near the residence of former puppet Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, in the Bathindi area of Jammu after being dubbed as ‘intruder’ his relatives staged a massive protest in his native Chinore area in Poonch.

The protesters blocked the Janipur-Bantalab road in Poonch and raised slogans against the administration. They were demanding the registration of an FIR against the Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force man, who shot and killed Murfad Shah. They refused to vacate the area and perform funeral prayers for the deceased till the registration of FIR against the culprit Indian soldier.

They, however, lifted the blockade only after an assurance of a free and fair probe by Jammu additional deputy commissioner and sub-divisional magistrate. After the protest, a funeral procession of Murfad Shah was held and he was laid to rest in Mendhar area of Poonch, which was attended by hundreds of people.

“We are waiting for the post-mortem report on which our future course of action depends. We have some details that Murfad was shot from a very close range,” said Syed Zeeshan, a relative of Murfad Shah.
