Srinagar, August 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership has said that the unequivocal, united and unanimous verdict by the people of Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal, Kashmir and Kargil against the planned attack on the identity and distinctiveness of Jammu and Kashmir should serve as an eye opener for Indian rulers and policy makers.
The resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar said the protest staged by the people of Jammu and Kashmir against the Indian attempts to abrogate 35-A is unprecedented.
The leadership termed the unity among people of Jammu and Kashmir over safeguarding the state subject law and unprecedented protest as heartening, saying that on JRL call, the people of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Kargil and Kashmir Valley staged exemplary protests against Indian the moves intended at abrogating the hereditary state subject law in the garb of 35-A.
“Through this exemplary protest, the people of Jammu and Kashmir have raised their voice against any move or act that is intended to wane, weaken, abrogate or tamper with the national identity and distinctiveness of Jammu Kashmir and have in unequivocal terms and with one voice announced their verdict that no resident of Jammu and Kashmir will accept any such move or judgment,” the JRL said.
Gilani, Mirwaiz and Malik said the Indian forces have started a fresh spree of nocturnal raids, arrests and other oppressive measures. “Police, as usual, have kept the ailing veteran leader Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest, and raided the residence of Muhammad Yasin Malik who had gone into hiding to evade arrest,” the statement said. “Police have arrested, or put under house detention many other leaders and activists.”
The leaders said that dozens of resistance leaders and activists including Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ghluam Nabi Sumjhi, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Hilal Ahmad War, Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Bilal Ahmad Sideequi, Hakim Abdul Rashid, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Yasin Ataie, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, Bashir Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Muhammad Ishfaq Khan and others while as police raided many others houses too. The leadership condemned the killing of innocent Syed Murad Ali Shah of Poonch at Bithendi Jammu, Muhammad Shafi Gujar at Gool Ramban and injuring Shakil Ahmad.
