Protests in Srinagar against rape, murder of Kathua girl

Srinagar, January 25, 2018 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, hundreds of activists from different social organizations held a protest at press colony in Srinagar against the rape and murder of minor girl Asifa in Kathua district. The protest was jointly organized by RTI Movement, Civil Society for Justice and Development, Gujjer-Bakerwal Foundation, Gujjer-Bakerwal Youth Conference and SAIRAB.

The protesters holding placards raised slogans like “Asifa Hum Sharminda Hai Tumaray Qatil Zinda Hain,” “We Want Justice” and “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Nara Kahan Gaya”. Interacting with the media on the occasion, the participants expressed dismay over the criminal silence maintained by the civil society of India and said the racist approach is unfortunate which exhibits their partial activism.

Prominent among those who participated in the protest included Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool, Zeeshan Pandith, Inamul Nabi, Mushtaqul Haq Sikandar, Tauseef Raina, Bilal Bashir Butt, Aman Qadri, Mehreen Zafar, Shafiya, Asiya Rather, Deeba, Ansaa and others.
