Provincial Sweep Nets Hundreds of Suspects, Seizes Weapons and Narcotics

A comprehensive, three-week-long security campaign across Balochistan has resulted in the arrest of over 700 individuals, the recovery of seven kidnapped victims, and the confiscation of a significant cache of narcotics and illegal weaponry, according to official police sources today.

The province-wide initiative, conducted on the special instructions of IG Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir, targeted declared, absconding, and wanted persons as part of a broader effort to establish a crime-free environment.

Under the anti-narcotics component of the operation, authorities apprehended 84 individuals, including fugitive suspects and drug peddlers. Seizures from these arrests included 76.609 kilograms of hashish, 3.614 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ice shisha), 20 grams of opium, and 269 bottles of alcohol.

In targeted actions against organised crime, law enforcement arrested 86 wanted persons implicated in cases of robbery, theft, and banditry. These operations yielded a substantial arsenal, including 76 pistols and revolvers, three Kalashnikov rifles, seven other rifles or shotguns, a rocket shell, 461 cartridges, and 41 magazines.

The sweep also led to the detention of 55 other wanted and fugitive offenders, alongside an additional 519 individuals arrested for a range of various crimes. During these operations, police recovered three stolen vehicles, 18 motorcycles, and five mobile phones. Authorities also removed tinted glass from 1,402 vehicles as part of the enforcement drive.

A key success of the campaign was the safe recovery of seven individuals who had been abducted for ransom.

To enhance the crackdown”s effectiveness, authorities are coordinating with law enforcement in three other provinces, sharing data and investigation details to prevent the escape of criminals and to check for outstanding cases or criminal records of the arrested suspects.
