Provincial Task Force Established to Reform Population and Health Strategy in Balochistan

The Government of Balochistan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have agreed to establish a provincial task force and introduce key institutional reforms with the aim of devising an effective strategy for population management and public health in the region.

This agreement was reached during a high-level meeting on Wednesday between Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti and UNFPA Country Representative Luay Shabaneh. The talks covered key areas such as population dynamics, maternal and child health, youth welfare, and the need for evidence-based policymaking.

Chief Minister Bugti affirmed that education and health are the top priorities of his administration. He emphasized that all future decisions related to population matters will be based on authentic and reliable data.

In response, the UNFPA representative reiterated the organization’s firm commitment to enhancing its cooperation and support for initiatives within the province.
