PTA to start long march from Bhit Shah to Karachi

LARKANA: For solving the genuine rights of teachers of Sindh, the former central president of Primary Teachers Association ( PTA), Haji Shafi Muhammad Sathio, announced a long march on foot from Bhit Shah to Karachi from Sunday, 11th December, with the consultation of teachers.

He said this during his meeting with the teachers community in Qambar-Shahdadkot, Ratodero, Larkana on Friday. Sathio said that the province of Sindh should be taken out of deprivation and teachers be given their required facilities which are already enjoyed by their fellow teachers of other provinces. He said the right of 17th grade primary teachers has been recognized by the Government of Sindh during the negotiations and it is also mentioned in the upgradation summary, and they should be given gazetted posts as BPS-17 scale which is the right of primary teachers, thereafter they will be able to play active role in upgrading quality of education in the province.

Haji Shafi Mohammad said that in the primary departments, when the director, DEO and TEO are separate departments, then why are those promoted from other cadres being appointed as headmasters in the primary? This is a difficult process for the primary teacher, the headmaster in the primary school is only the right of the primary teacher which should be given to the deserving primary teacher according to seniority and education.

He demanded that in the district account offices, bribes should be stopped, justice should be done by restoring the increments of B.Ed and M.Ed pass primary teachers, health cards should be given to the primary teachers of Sindh, as in the past, 25% of the children of the teachers of Sindh Quota should be restored, group insurance should be given to retired teachers, recently appointed PSTs should be given proper salaries forthwith who have not been paid for the last eight months or else a long march by foot from Bhit Shah to Karachi will be started from 11th December to solve the core problems of teachers, he warned.

He said that for this purpose all the teachers of Sindh are fully preparing and all the roads of Sindh will be towards Bhit Shah and they will be struggling for their genuine rights.
