Punjab Government is committed to composite development of the province: Sardar Asif Nakai

Lahore, April 09, 2019 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Communication and Works Sardar Muhammad Asif Nakai chaired the third meeting of the Provincial Steering Committee on Rural Accessibility Programme “NAYA PAKISTAN – MANZILEN ASAN” in the Committee Room of C and W here on Tuesday. The committee reviewed the progress made on this program and gave approval to important decisions. Secretary C and W Sheharyar Sultan updated the participants about the current status of Rural Accessibility Programme and briefed about the prioritized roads identified by the Divisional Commissioners.

He said that prioritized schemes of roads construction have been identified in all the divisions. Giving detail of these schemes, he said that 11 in Rawalpindi division, 24 in Gujranwala, 21 in Sargodha, 10 in Lahore, 19 in Faisalabad, 11 in Sahiwal, 20 in Multan, 22 in Bahawalpur and 28 are identified in DG Khan Division. He apprised the committee about the recommendations of the DCCs regarding the purposed length of roads and their estimated costs. After careful consideration, members of the committee approved the schemes identified by the DCCs. Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Asif Nakai said that Punjab government is committed to composite development of the province.

The C and W department will ensure quality construction of roads in the new Pakistan so that the people could reach to their destinations with ease. There should be no compromise on the construction quality as quality work increases the life of roads, he added. Secretary C and W Sheharyar Sultan, Member Planning and Development Abid Bodla, Chief Engineer Highway North Shafqat Ali Butar, Chief Engineer Highway Central Nayyar Saeed and concerned officials from Finance Department and Local Government also attended the meeting.
