Rangers and SIU’s joint operation in Lyari, 2 operatives of an extortion gang arrested

Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and SIU Police have taken two alleged members of a major extortion mafia, active in the Lyari area, into custody today after an intelligence-based joint operation.

Officials have identified the arrested individuals as Adnan alias Mullah and Faisal. A spokesperson confirmed that these arrests were part of a targeted operation against criminal elements demanding extortion money from the local business community.

According to the details released, Adnan alias Mullah allegedly belongs to the Sudais Pappu group. He is accused of collecting extortion money, along with his associate Maaz, from shopkeepers and owners of other commercial establishments in the Jahanabad area of SITE Town.

The second accused, Faisal, is said to be a close associate of the alleged ringleader of the extortion network, Jameel Chhanga. Faisal is believed to play a key role in transferring the illegally obtained money to various locations in the city and is also in contact with other members of the organization.

After the initial arrests, the accused have been handed over to police custody for further legal action. Security forces have started conducting further raids to find and arrest the remaining associates of the arrested individuals.
