Rangers operation, gang renting weapons to dacoits arrested along with ringleader from Peerabad

Authorities have arrested a three-member gang in the Peerabad Orangi Town area on Monday, who confessed to allegedly renting out weapons to dacoits and being involved in large-scale street crime and drug distribution.

A spokesperson for Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) confirmed that an intelligence-based operation in Muslimabad No. 2 resulted in the arrest of Shahroz son of Feroz Khan, Jannat Gul son of Raheem Gul, and Nauman Khan son of Zargoon Khan.

A large cache of illegal weapons was recovered from the suspects’ possession, including a .222 rifle with a fake license, an unlicensed 9mm pistol, and a 30-bore pistol with a bogus license. Additionally, authorities seized multiple magazines, live rounds, daggers, steel punches, a dummy pistol, binoculars, and a DVR system.

The recovered items also included 200 grams of charas and 13 mobile phones.

Initial investigations revealed that the accused Shahroz allegedly ran the weapon rental scheme from his bicycle shop in Nazimabad No. 1, where he also allegedly sold charas. The press release stated that his father is a known drug addict who operates an illegal liquor store in the same area.

During interrogation, Jannat Gul confessed to his prior arrest and imprisonment in 2021 in a case involving charas and a snatched motorcycle. It was also revealed that he had previously been injured by a gunshot to the leg during an encounter with the police. He further implicated two of his brothers in drug peddling activities in Peerabad.

The third accused, Nauman Khan, has admitted to being involved in numerous robberies and drug-related crimes in various parts of the city, along with other accomplices.

Security forces are now conducting raids to apprehend the remaining members of the criminal network.

The arrested individuals, along with the recovered weapons, drugs, and other evidence, have been handed over to the police to initiate formal legal proceedings.
