SRATODERO: The lack of required proper facilities at Shah Lateef Public Library, Ratodero, has forced the students and other readers to come out on roads to protest in front of Ratodero Press Club here on Wednesday demanding provision of essential facilities including cold drinking water and air-conditioned reading hall. They chanted slogans in favour of their just demands.
Protesters including Hasnain Luk, Tahir Chandio, Abdul Rahman Soomro, Muhammad Ali, Abdul Rahim, Talib and others complained to media persons that there is only one library in the town where students come regularly to study but there are no required facilities for them. Over 300 students and other readers visit the library daily and regularly which include 30 candidates who are preparing themselves for the upcoming Central Superior Services (CSS) competitive examination.
They said there is neither air-conditioner in the reading hall nor internet service nor cold drinking water facility at the library in this sizzling hot weather. For drinking water the students have to go out frequently to quench their thirst which creates disturbance in their studies. They said library employees are using air-conditioners but no same facility for the readers which is astonishing.
The agitating students alleged that they have been protesting since past three years but there seems nobody in the Sindh Government to hear their cries and resolve their basic rights issues. They demanded of the provincial rulers to listen to their grievances and resolve them without further loss of time so that they could be able to compete with the rest of the world.
