Relief operation in flood-hit areas of KP in full swing: PDMA

PESHAWAR: Rescue activities are in full swing in rain and flood affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), food packages and relief items have been distributed among the flood affectees in Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral districts.

Six relief camps have been established for the flood affectees in different parts of Dera Ismail Khan. The authority is in close contact with District Administrations of Chitral, Kohistan and Dera Ismail Khan to monitor the situation. Meanwhile, seven persons have been killed while fifteen others injured due to recent intermittent rains and flood in Dera Ismail Khan.

According to Deputy Commissioner DI Khan Nasrullah Khan, one hundred and forty seven villages are affected due to flood and more than eight thousand houses are partially or totally damaged. He said eleven teams are working in the field to carry out rescue and relief operation in the flood hit areas.
