KARACHI:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Tuesday that six centres of Rescue 1122 had been set up in Karachi while the one in Larkana.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of Rescue 1122 service in Karachi, he said initially 50 ambulances would be operated. “Out of these 50 ambulances, 40 have been arranged by the World Bank (WB),” he said, and added that the provincial government would connect the service to the fire brigade department and
the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) in times to come. He said $3 billion were required if Karachi was to be included in the list of world’s best cities. Murad said due to the water shortage, Sindh was confronted with problems in the agriculture sector.
The chief minister said under the law passed by the Sindh Assembly, a girl under 18 years of age could not marry. “Two girls from Karachi recently fled to Punjab where they married the boys of their choice. While one of them later returned, the other one named Dua Zehra has still not been reunited with her parents.
Initially, we were told that she was in Lahore. Now there are reports that she had gone to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) along with her husband,” he said, adding that although the provincial government had requested KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan for the return of the girl, but sadly there was no response from him. He further said that he was holding consultations with the federal government for the appointment of the inspector general of police (IGP) in the province on permanent basis.
