Rs1.5bn, Rs500m approved for Karachi, Hyderabad respectively: Hashmi

Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi met Chairman of Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL) Waseem Akhtar Bajwa at Governor House.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on ongoing development projects in Karachi and Hyderabad, particularly the Green Line BRT project, according to information from the Sindh Governor House today.

Hashmi said that the Green Line project is an important and lasting gift from Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the people of Karachi, which will provide citizens with modern, safe, and quality transport facilities. He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has approved special packages of Rs1.5 billion and Rs500 million respectively for the development of Karachi and Hyderabad.

The meeting was informed that under federal funding, plans have been made to complete 504 development projects in Karachi and 17 in Hyderabad. Chairman PIDCL Waseem Akhtar Bajwa informed Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi that the target has been set to complete Phase-II of the Green Line project by the end of the current year.

Waseem Akhtar Bajwa also briefed Nehal Hashmi about issues related to NOCs, utility shifting, and other administrative hurdles. On the occasion, Hashmi directed that all obstacles hindering development projects be removed immediately and emphasized the urgent establishment of a one-window operation for NOCs and other approvals.

He announced that he will review the progress of the Green Line project every 15 days to ensure its timely completion. He added that improvement in urban infrastructure will not only reduce traffic problems but will also boost economic activities.
