SAS demands restoration of SAB’s original logo

LARKANA: Sindhi Adabi Sangat (SAS) Larkana held a large protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh Friday against Sindhi Adabi Board (SAB) for removing the historical and cultural logo of its own institution.

They were carrying banners and placards in their hands demanding the restoration of the original logo of the SAB consisting of a bull. Protesters including Ustad Gul Dayo, Ustad Khalid Chandio, Siraj Kalhoro of Sindhi Porhiyat Sangat, Rizwan Gul, Hafeez Mangi, Ijaz Solangi, Zahid Ali Junejo, Hamz Ali Sohu, Karim Azad of Sindh United Party, Nabi Bakhsh Brohi and others alleged that SAB members have replaced the Sindhi-style logo having bull with conservatism thinking and narrow mindedness. They said that Sindhi bull is the essence of the civilization and culture of Sindh written on the seals of the ancient Sindhi script, which should be restored immediately.

They said that it is a moral and Sindh friendship requirement that literary institutions stop destroying their historical identity marks. The SAB is a pioneering institution for publishing the history, culture, language and Sindhi literature of Sindh, which should come out of the religious shell and show progressive thinking and immediately restore the logo with the bull and stop playing with the sentiments and importance of culture, history and respect.

Writers, poets, political and social leaders participating in the demonstration demanded that the entire body including the current chairman of the SAB should be abolished and people with progressive thoughts and ideas should be appointed or else the writers, literary figures and poets should continue their protest until the original bull logo is restored.
