Saudi Arabia, UAE reaffirm continued efforts to support Yemeni people

Jeddah Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have confirmed their continued political, military, relief and development efforts in support of Yemen with the participation of the Coalition countries standing up for the Yemeni people.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministries of Saudi Arabia and the UAE said that they are following with great concern the political and military developments, in the wake of the events that took place in Yemen’s interim capital Aden on August 7 and the ensuing events that spilled over into the Governorates of Abyan and Shabwa.

The governments of both countries expressed their rejection and condemnation of the accusations and defamation campaigns targeting the UAE against the backdrop of these events. They reminded of the sacrifices made by the Coalition forces in Yemen, motivated by sincere fraternal and neighborly ties, as well as to maintain the security of the region and the prosperity of its people and their common destiny.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE affirmed their full keenness and pursuit to preserve the State of Yemen and the interests of the Yemeni people and their security, stability, independence, and the territorial integrity of their country, under the leadership of the legitimate president of Yemen, and to counter the coup of the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia and other terrorist groups.

Also in the statement, the two countries affirmed the need for full commitment to cooperate with the Joint Committee set up by the Coalition Command for the disengagement and redeployment of the troops, as part of the Coalition’s military effort. They further called for swift engagement in the Jeddah dialogue, advocated by Saudi Arabia to address the causes and repercussions of events in some of Yemen’s southern governorates.
