Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi today mandated a significant enhancement of security protocols within the capital’s Red Zone, following a comprehensive review of the area’s safety arrangements.
During his visit, the IGP scrutinised the existing security infrastructure at various entry and exit points. He also evaluated the protective measures in place at both government and private establishments located within the sensitive district.
The police chief instructed relevant officers to ensure all possible safety requirements are fully met, ordering that security be made more stringent and effective. He stressed the importance of effective surveillance using Safe City cameras to maintain law and order and enable an immediate response to any suspicious activity.
In a separate initiative, the IGP also held an open court at the Central Police Office as part of the force’s ‘Open Door Policy.’
The forum provided an opportunity for both citizens and police personnel to voice their concerns directly to the IGP, who issued on-the-spot directives for their resolution. He reaffirmed his commitment to public accessibility, stating, ‘my doors are always open for the citizens,’ and invited anyone with police-related issues to attend.
He emphasised that the swift and merit-based resolution of public grievances is a primary priority. Accordingly, concerned officials were instructed to address complaints within designated timeframes and submit compliance reports to the Central Police Office.
The IGP noted that the practice of holding daily open courts is a key step being taken by the Islamabad Police to facilitate citizens and resolve their problems on a priority basis.
