Seminar on Traffic Accidents: Officials Appeal to Citizens to Follow Laws

A seminar titled ‘Traffic, Accidents, Causes, and Prevention’ was held at Hasina Moin Hall under the auspices of the Medical and Social Welfare Committee of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi. The seminar called for strict adherence to laws to prevent traffic accidents.

The seminar commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by various experts shedding light on the causes and solutions for road accidents. Dr. Qaiser Sajjad, Faisal Edhi, and others emphasized the importance of traffic laws.

DIG Traffic Syed Peer Muhammad Shah stated that approximately 1.3 million people worldwide lose their lives in road accidents annually. He identified overspeeding, lack of lane discipline, and overloading as major causes of accidents.

Tariq Mustafa appealed to the public to understand their responsibility and adhere to traffic laws. Faisal Edhi mentioned the lack of an effective public transport system in Karachi and called for stricter licensing processes.

Dr. Qaiser Sajjad criticized public attitudes, noting that breaking signals and not wearing helmets are often seen as acts of pride. Dr. Irfan emphasized the need for specific roads for accident prevention.

The seminar was attended by officials from various hospitals and social and political figures who presented their suggestions for preventing accidents.
