Seven killed, 17 injured in boiler explosion in Karachi

KARACHI:Seven people were killed and 17 others injured in a boiler explosion that happened in a factory near Saba Cinema in New Karachi Industrial Area of the city on Tuesday.

 

According to rescue sources, a boiler exploded which caused the collapse of the factory building in New Karachi Industrial Area of the metropolis following which seven people were killed and 17 others injured. There was hue and cry of the injured people soon after the incident, said area people. Two other factories were also damaged due to the explosion, they added.

 

The injured were identified as Sakhawat,50, son of Ahmed Ali; Akber, 28, son of Javaid; Ragaish, 20, son of Rafiq; Amna, 50, wife of Hazoor Bux; Sajid, 17, son of Hazoor Bux; Haseeb, 21, son of Akhtar; Rasheed, 27, son Azam; Jaffer, 50, son of Safder; Riaz, son of Ashraf; Abid, 33, son of Wajid; Muhammad Zahid, 55, son of Abdul Rehman; Shah, 25, son of Sher Ali; Sher Akhter, 22, son of Mazi Hussain; Arzo, 20; Asim, 22 son of Wajid; Raheem, son of Muhammad Raheem; Jawaid, 20 son of Papa.

 

Heavy contingents of police, rangers and rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively. An emergency desk was set up at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to meet emergency situation. The power supply to the locality came to halt as a high-tension power lines came down due to the explosion.
