SHCC lodges FIRs against habitual quacks

KARACHI: Directorate of Anti-Quackery, Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) under directions of Dr Khalid Sheikh Convener of Anti-Quackery Committee has registered FIRs against the habitual quacks involved in illegal de-sealing of officially sealed clinics.

Seven FIRs were registered out of which four in Badin, one in Karachi and two in Jacobabad against 14 quacks. The Anti-quackery Committee headed by Dr Khalid Sheikh and comprising Board of Commissioners, SHCC, Jawad Amin and Dr A Razzaq Sheikh decided in meeting to take stern actions against the culprits, who violated the law.

In compliance of the decision, Director Anti-Quackery Yaseen Veesar with his team conducted multiple meetings with SSPs of concerned districts and with support of Police, Directorate has lodged FIRs under Pakistan Penal Code.

Meanwhile, during this week, team visited 90 clinics and sealed 48 clinics on account of practicing quackery. However, 20 practitioners/ owners submitted around Rs 10 lac penalty amount which was imposed by the Board of Commissioners during the decision against de-sealing applications.
