In Chattochand city near Thatta, shopkeepers and hotel owners protested on Sunday against alleged police brutality and illegal raids conducted by Thatta’s CIA Police during the “smart lockdown,” which completely shut down the Hyderabad National Highway.
Protesters, including laborers and business owners, staged a sit-in at the central stop of Chattochand city, blocking the main national highway. This blockade was further intensified by burning tires, resulting in hundreds of vehicles being stalled on the highway.
Business owners and their employees clearly stated that Thatta’s CIA Police officers were involved in unnecessary actions during operations conducted under the guise of enforcing lockdown restrictions, subjecting individuals to physical violence and severe mistreatment.
The protesting community has demanded immediate action against the police personnel deemed responsible for the alleged excesses. Furthermore, they have appealed to authorities to ensure their safety and protection from future incidents.
