Significant progress on the plan to deliver passports to the doorstep

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has completed deliberations on a new initiative to deliver passports directly to citizens’ homes, an initiative aimed at streamlining the passport issuance process and improving public convenience.

A recent high-level meeting chaired by DG Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa highlighted significant progress towards implementing this innovative service. Finalizing the standard operating procedures (SOP) for home delivery was a key outcome of the discussions, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing service efficiency.

The decision to introduce home delivery of passports is expected to ease access for citizens, particularly those living in remote or underserved areas. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to modernize public services through technology and innovation, potentially reducing the need for in-person visits to passport offices.

Officials from the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports expressed optimism about the positive impact of this service. By making passport acquisition easier and more accessible, this program is expected to enhance customer satisfaction and streamline administrative processes.

The next steps will include the nationwide rollout of the service, with specific timelines and implementation phases to be announced in due course. As the plan progresses, the Directorate will focus on maintaining the security and integrity of the passport issuance process while continuing to adapt to the evolving needs of citizens.
