Sindh Chief Secretary presides meeting – Plan to develop and beautify I.I. Chundrigar Road

Karachi, May 07, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Sindh Government is considering to develop and beautify the I.I. Chundrigar Road, from Shaheen Complex to Tower, having a total length of 2.2 km i.e., about 1 ½ mile, in collaboration with the SBP (State Bank of Pakistan) PBA (Pakistan Banking Association, PR (Pakistan Railway) and major Business and Trade Organization located at I.I. Chundrigar Road Karachi.

A delegation of the eminent Bankers led by M.D. SBP Ashraf Khan, attended a meeting, head by Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, also attended by the Secretary Implementation, SGA and CD Dr. Riaz Siddiqui, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani and senior officers of Local Government Department including MD- KW and SB Asadullah Khan, discussed the salient feature of the project, which would be implemented by the Sindh Govt., in collaboration with the Works and Services Department, Local Govt. department, KMC, KDA, KW and SB and other Sindh Government’s attached departments will cooperate, to this effect.

Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, referred the impact of Karachi Neighbourhood project, and desired that a feasible study with mechanized development and strategic aspect be evolved, to discuss and consider in the next meeting, scheduled to be held next month. The C.S. also noted a memorandum of understanding (MoU) is also required, as well, re-emphasized that funds should be contributed by the all stake holders for the project.

Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalwani suggested that the encroached footpaths being used unauthorized for case vehicle parking, by the banks etc., should be vacated for sufficient implementation and completion of the Project. MD-SBP and his companions, welcoming the Sindh government step for the project, including the interest of C.S. assured their cooperation, in this connection.

Additional Secretary Local Govt., Niaz Soomro, MD-KW and SB Asad Ali Khan, DG-Parks and Horticulture KMC Afaq Mirza CEO-UBL Ms. Saima Kamil, Secretary Information Technology Ali Bakhsh Qazi, Secretary Implementation Dr. Riaz A. Siddiqui and CEO Pakistan Banks Association Taufeeq Hussain also offered their views for the projects. It may be mentioned that all installation of utilities would be developed sufficiently.
