Sindh To Issue Benazir Hari Cards To Millions Of Farmers

The Sindh government has unveiled substantial initiatives aimed at bolstering the province’s agricultural sector, including the distribution of Benazir Hari Cards to millions of recently enrolled cultivators.

Provincial Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Baksh Mahar announced the approval granted to Sindh Bank for the card production process, according to official information today. The registration and verification of 80,000 new agriculturalists have been finalized.

Sindh Bank is slated to distribute 50,000 cards in the final week of September, followed by an additional 50,000 cards every 20 days. These cards will enable growers to access subsidies and monetary aid.

In another significant move, the provincial administration is transitioning drip irrigation systems to solar energy. Landholders with 5 to 25 acres will receive subsidized solar panels. This project involves installing 295 solar units across 4,000 acres, with an 80/20 cost-sharing arrangement between the government and farmers, respectively.

Interested agriculturalists can apply for solar panels at the Director General of Agriculture Water Management”s office in Hyderabad by September 20th. Minister Mahar underscored that these actions align with directives from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Chief Minister to provide swift assistance to farmers and invigorate the agricultural domain.
