Srinagar, July 05, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, special prayers will be offered on Friday and complete shutdown will be observed on Sunday to commemorate the second martyrdom anniversary of popular youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, and those killed during mass uprising erupted after his killing by the Indian troops on 8th of July in 2016.
Call for the fateha khawani in mosques on Friday and observance of complete shutdown on Sunday has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The JRL in a joint statement issued in Srinagar also said that it would hold a public meeting in Tral on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Joint Resistance Leadership denounced the assertions of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, saying that Kashmir is neither an issue of development nor administration but it is a longstanding issue and the world community has agreed to decide its political destiny through the right to self-determination. Modi had said that the Government of India’s goal in Jammu and Kashmir was “good governance, development, responsibility and accountability”.
Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik maintained that Modi’s statement was mere jugglery of words and it illustrated his insincerity. “It is unfortunate that Narendra Modi and other Indian politicians instead of relying on rational thinking are pursuing their fanatical dogma,” they deplored. They added that India was suffering from arrogance of power and the authorities in Delhi were deliberately ignoring the hard realities about Jammu and Kashmir.
“India forcibly seized Kashmir in 1947 with its military might and we are suffering heavily since that day,” the leaders said. “During this period, more than six lakh people have been mercilessly killed… instead of stating any logic, New Delhi is issuing threats adding fuel to the fire,” they added.
The resistance leaders suggested the Indian leadership to learn from annals of history, saying that Kashmir was much more progressive and on forefront in economy, and the life standard was far better than Indian states”. They held India responsible for turmoil, disturbance and other issues related to economy and development, saying that the forced occupation had pushed the occupied territory to stone-age like situation. “Jammu and Kashmir has been blessed with rich resources of forests and minerals, however (these) were looted and plundered by occupational forces and authorities in Delhi,” they added.
