Sports: Cricket: Batsmen and bowlers both must perform in Tests, Shan Masood

Karachi:Pakistan opener Shan Masood, who is in England with the team for upcoming Test series, believes Tests need performance from both bowlers and batsmen for a team to perform up to the mark.

“The batsmen must put good score on board for bowlers (to defend) while bowlers must get the opponents out early (so that batsmen could have a reachable total to achieve),” said Masood while talking to media persons online on Tuesday.

He said that West Indies has beaten England in Test, which doesn’t point out that England is a weak side. It shows that Test is a big challenge even if opponents are assumed to be weak.

“We cannot be sure in anything how it pans out so it cannot be said that England is a weak side only after a game it lost to West Indies. The teams were playing after a long time that the England side didn’t have their regular skipper with the squad. I don’t think we can take the liberty to predict anything. Nobody knows what is going to happen tomorrow,” he said.

Meanwhile, Shan Masood said that players have developed camaraderie in England during their stay and players were happy to develop cordial relations with the team management too. The left-handed batsman added that all players were happy of getting a chance to play cricket after a long time and he feel they were blessed of getting this chance when people were struggling due to the ongoing pandemic.

He added that it was a great feeling to play in England at historic grounds against a tough side. He further said that he and all his teammates think big and as openers, if one is settled down, he should try to help the team put a big score on board.
