Sports: Hockey: Hockey activities may start by the end of August

Karachi:Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is looking to start domestic hockey activities by the end of August as the country slowly comes out lockdown imposed due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Pakistan cricket team’s test matches against England, which begins August 5 will be first major sports event for any sport for Pakistan. Pakistan hockey bosses also think that the time has arrived to resume activities soon as other activities in the country also moves towards uneasy normalcy.

PHF Secretary Asif Bajwa said that the federation may resume hockey activities with Hockey5s League, in which each team fields five players in a match at smaller pitch and shorter time period, late next month. He added that PHF wants to resume activities as International Hockey Federation (FIH) and Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) want member countries to resume activities with SOPs.
