Stolen cars being run in taxi service: AVLC reveals

KARACHI:Stolen cars of Karachi citizens revealed to be running in online taxi service. What happens to citizens’ stolen cars? The arrested accused told everything to Anti Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC).

According to a statement issued by Arif Aslam Rao, SSP AVLC, the AVLC police arrested the most wanted inter-provincial car lifter gang of five members. The arrested accused belong to Karachi and Balochistan Khuzdar. The arrested accused have been identified as Sarban alias Pappu, Rashid Minhas, Rehan, Rana Usman, and Sarfraz. The SSP said that the two accused are government employees. He said that five stolen cars have been recovered from the accused.

During the interrogation, surprising revelations of the accused came to light, SSP said. Citizens’ stolen cars run in online taxi service, the gang members revealed. The arrested accused runs a taxi service in a well-known car company, apart from online taxi service, the accused also rent cars, the SSP said

The arrested accused include a car lifter from Karachi and a buyer from Balochistan. The accused include a civilian and two employees of a major government agency, Arif Aslam Rao said. The officials said that three accused were arrested by Assistant Commissioner Khuzdar and one in Karachi.

The brutality of the accused can be judged from one incident, In 2021, a man was killed in a traffic accident in Baldia Town, as the injured man was taken to hospital the accused stolen his car and sold it cheaply in Balochistan, SSP Arif Aslam Rao said.
