Students protest online classes amid loadshedding

LARKANA:On the call of Sindh Students Council, several students held a protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh on Sunday against online classes. The protesters were holding placards in their hands and were shouting slogans in favour of their demand.

Speaking on the occasion, Hosh Muhammad Unar, Asmat Hyder Janwari and others alleged that Higher Education Commissioner (HEC) and the government took the decision to hold online classes and examinations without taking into consideration the unavailability of Internet facilities, massive electricity loadshedding and economic conditions of poor students living in the remote areas.

They claimed that as HEC had technically failed to arrange online classes properly, then how could other educational institutions manage it. They said the decision to hold online classes and examinations was just to recover fees from the students and nothing else in this COVID-19 pandemic when the educational institutions all over the world remained closed. They demanded promotion on the basis of last year’s performance to save their precious year without getting an examination.
