The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has launched a nationwide electronic filing system, marking a significant stride towards digitalizing the judicial process and expediting justice delivery. The system, championed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, now operates across all five SCP registries: Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta.

The new platform allows legal professionals and individuals involved in litigation to submit case documents electronically, supplementing the existing paper-based method. Digital versions of petitions, memoranda, judicial rulings, and directives are uploaded to the Court”s Case Management System (CMS) and instantly distributed to relevant parties through automated emails. These legal records can also be accessed publicly via the Supreme Court’s Case Search Page, promoting transparency and streamlining case proceedings.

To ensure effective implementation, the SCP has mandated the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) to provide email addresses and phone numbers of all Advocates-on-Record (AORs) and Advocates Supreme Court (ASCs) for CMS enrollment.

Government bodies, including the Attorney General, Secretary Cabinet Division, Advocates General, Prosecutors General, and provincial Chief Secretaries, have also been requested to appoint designated representatives for electronic filing management. These individuals will facilitate litigation involving government entities and public institutions.

Parties involved are asked to submit the necessary information to [email protected]. Technical assistance is available by contacting Malik Sohail Ahmad, Senior Deputy Director (Software), at 0307-5555645 or 051-9219255.

This undertaking represents a significant advancement in the SCP”s objective of establishing a user-friendly, technologically advanced judicial system, aimed at reducing procedural delays, lowering litigation expenses, and improving access to justice throughout the country.
