Foreign Minister’s Telephone Call with the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan

Islamabad, October 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi had a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov, today. The two Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral relations and the ongoing conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia on Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The Foreign Minister expressed deep concern on the deteriorating security situation in Nagorno-Karabakh (NKB) and expressed full solidarity with the brotherly nation of Azerbaijan and its people at this difficult time. He said that Pakistan believed in restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan over NKB and Azerbaijan’s occupied territories. He expressed deep concerns over the reprehensible targeting and killing of civilians by the Armenian forces and hoped for a peaceful resolution of the crisis, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov appreciated Pakistan’s support to Azerbaijan and briefed on the latest situation.

Foreign Minister Qureshi also recognized Azerbaijan’s valuable support to Pakistan on Jammu and Kashmir dispute at various international fora, including the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir. He briefed his counterpart on the grave human rights violations and other repressive actions being perpetrated by the Indian occupation forces in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ and K).

The two Foreign Ministers expressed satisfaction at the state of bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade and economic, cultural and educational fields. They agreed to remain in close contact. Foreign Minister Qureshi reiterated his invitation to the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan to visit Pakistan.

Govt preparing action plan to deal with issue of food shortages: Dr. Faisal

Islamabad, October 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services, Dr. Faisal Sultan has said government is preparing an action plan to deal with the issue of food shortages.

Addressing an event in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said a national food survey has been carried under which data from all the districts have been collected for the first time in history.

Pakistan supports stance of Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh: FM

Islamabad, October 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said Pakistan supports the stance of Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh.

He said during his telephonic conversation with his Azeri counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan stands by the people and leadership of Azerbaijan during these difficult times.

He condemned the Armenian bombardment on the rural areas of Azerbaijan. He, however, said that the ceasefire between Azerbaijan and Armenia on humanitarian grounds is a positive step for regional peace and stability. He said durable peace depends upon complete implementation of UN Security Council resolutions and withdrawal of Armenian forces from the areas of Azerbaijan.

The Foreign Minister hailed Azerbaijan’s support for oppressed Kashmiri people at the international forums.

The two Foreign Ministers agreed to further bolster cooperation between the two countries in different areas including trade, education and culture.

The Azeri Foreign Minster accepted the invitation extended by Shah Mahmood Qureshi to visit Pakistan.

Planning Minister warns of serious consequences of not adhering to COVID related SOPs

Islamabad, October 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Minister for Planning Asad Umar has warned of serious consequences of not adhering to COVID related SOPs.

In a tweet on Tuesday, he said daily COVID mortality was twelve last week which is a one hundred and forty percent increase when compared with previous weeks. He said we are collectively committing a blunder by recklessly ignoring all the Standard Operating Procedures and the results have started to show.

He said if we do not change our current path, we will lose both lives and livelihoods.

Shibli stresses need to highlight welfare projects, reforms by Govt in KP

Islamabad, October 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz says the projects and reforms initiated by PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for welfare of people are highly praiseworthy, which need to be highlighted at national level.

He expressed these views during a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in Peshawar.

They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest with special focus on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s reforms and development projects and its effective publicity for awareness of masses.

Both of them agreed on better coordination between federal and provincial ministries of Information for effective publicity of the government projects and reforms initiated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for wellbeing and socio-economic development of people.

Shibli Faraz said a record number of people welfare projects have been completed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the PTI government.

UK Chief of Defence Staff acknowledges Pakistan Army’s efforts for regional peace

Islamabad, October 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Chief of Defence Staff of the United Kingdom, General Sir Nicholas Patrick Carter called on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi.

They discussed matters of mutual interest, including strengthening of bilateral security and defence cooperation between the two armies.

The UK Chief of Defence Staff acknowledged Pakistan Army’s continued efforts for regional peace and stability, particularly Pakistan’s efforts for Afghanistan peace process and achievements in fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister directs to ensure sufficient supply of wheat, sugar at utility stores

Islamabad, October 20, 2020 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Imran Khan has stressed on taking all administrative measures to ensure availability of daily commodities and controlling their prices.

He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad to review availability and prices of daily commodities, especially wheat and sugar.

The Prime Minister directed to ensure sufficient supply of wheat and sugar at utility stores across the country.

He also directed provincial administrations to ensure legal action against real owners of mills and godowns who are indulged in hoarding.

The meeting was apprised that Punjab government has increased release of wheat from 16,000 tons to 20,000 tons on daily basis, which would be further increased to 25,000 tons in a couple of days. It was further informed that Sindh government would start formal release of wheat within next few days.

The meeting was also apprised that full scale crackdown against hoarders is continuing under the Prime Minister’s direction and it would be further accelerated.
