Unidentified persons chop down scores of apple trees in IIOJK

Srinagar, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in what appears to be an attempt to snatch away the remaining livelihood left with the Kashmiris, unidentified persons chopped scores of apple trees in two different areas in South Kashmir’s Islamabad district. The locals told media men that during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, miscreants damaged apple orchards belonging to several families in Kandipora and Bijbehara areas of the district. They said miscreants chopped down more than a hundred fruit-bearing apple trees by using axes and saws.

The locals said that the apple orchards are their only means of livelihood. “Dozens of families are dependent on apple crop and the chopping down of the trees has created tremendous panic among the locals,” they added. The locals demanded stern punishment to the culprits and compensation for the losses they have suffered.

The locals talking to media men said how this happened when the Indian army, paramilitary and Special Operation Groups in all the area are conducting search operations, adding that unknown Hindutva goons in uniform and civic are responsible of such anti-Kashmir acts. The Modi regime aim and objective is to harass and weaken the local economy of people of the valley.

Over 300 VDG terrorists recruited in Rajouri’s Kalakote town

Jammu, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with Police provided special weapon training to terrorist gang raised in the name of Village Defence Guards (VDG) by the Modi regime across Jammu region. More than 300 VDGs have been trained by the Indian paramilitary force in just a small town, Kalakote, of Rajouri district, over the past few weeks. A special campaign was launched in different areas including Tatapani, Broh, Sialsui, Potha and Solki of the town for recruitment of the Village Defense Guards, who are responsible for killing of many innocent Muslims in the past, then euphemised as Village Defense Committees.

It is worth mentioning here that Al Jazeera, an international English Channel, in its latest report released in the second week of March 2023, has said that revival of the terrorist gang, VDGs, refutes the justification by the Indian government for revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in 2019. The Modi government, the report added, while abrogating the Kashmir’s special status argued that the move would wipe out armed resistance in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir. However, after three years of the New Delhi’s unilateral action, the same Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is “reviving a civilian militia, called the Village Defence Guards (VDGs) in the region’s southern Jammu area””.

First established in 1995 in the districts of Jammu area, the VDGs, then known as Village Defence Committees, were tasked with targeting pro-freedom people in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. “Demands to disband the civil militia grew in the early 2000,” the Al Jazeera report said and added that since 2019, the VDGs have been formed along the lines of Salwa Judum, a notorious militia group created at the turn of the century in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, where the Maoists led a resistance movement of the Indigenous people resisting a corporate takeover of their lands and resources.

The TV report said, “Since January, hundreds of civilians from Dhangri and other villages around Jammu are being trained and armed by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) paramilitary group.”

Khalistani flags to be raised at airports, railway stations during G-20 meet in Uttarakhand

New Delhi, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): The pro-Khalistan organisation ‘Sikh for Justice’ has warned India against holding the G-20 meeting in Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar town, which will be a part of Sikh future state after being freed from India. The head of ‘Sikh for Justice’, Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, in pre-recorded messages announced to raise Khalistani flags at airports, railway stations and other areas during the meeting days in Uttarakhand, Indian officials claimed citing the messages.

The official said, the move is meant to internationalise the Khalistan issue. “Ramnagar is not a part of India and it will be made a part of Khalistan after Punjab is freed,” Pannu said in the message, according to the Uttarakhand Special Task Force’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Senthil Abudai Krishnaraj. The Chief Scientific Advisors’ Roundtable (CSAR) of G-20 countries will be held in Uttarakhand’s Ramnagar from March 28-30.

Krishna raj said all the numbers from which such recorded calls were received are being traced. The DIG said the Special Task Force is probing the matter. It seems that Pannu is trying to gain “publicity” on the Khalistan issue through the G-20 meeting. Earlier, a Canada based World Sikh Organization (WSO) has already called on the Canadian government to boycott the G-20 events in Kashmir and Chandigarh, Punjab, and ban Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and officials from travelling to the country for abusing minorities and hurling threats against Sikh lawmakers.

The Sikh leaders said that the Modi regime has intentionally chosen Sikh regions like Chandigarh, Ramnagar and UN-acknowledged disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir for G-20 meetings to mislead the international community regarding the ongoing freedom movements in the regions.

IIOJK people need urgent attention of UNHRC to attain basic political right, Qureshi tells participants

Geneva, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): Zaffar Qureshi, Chairman Kashmir Campaign Global, has said that people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir need urgent attention of the United Nations Human Rights Council to attain the right to self-determination, the basic human right. While addressing the 52nd session of Human Rights Council in Geneva, Zaffar Qureshi said, “Since 2019, when India unilaterally scrapped Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, New Delhi has drastically intensified repression of rights in the occupied territory.” He said, reports have noted how political activists, civil society at large, journalists, human rights defenders and lawyers are facing relentless interrogation, imprisonment and even custodial deaths.

“Access to justice or human rights bodies is non-existent,” he deplored. “Clampdown on dissent, guides of tax rate, foreign funding regularities, financial irregularities, facilitated by the draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA) are used to curb the political voices,” he informed the UN HRC participants. Qureshi said, “Freedom voices like Khurram Parvez, Massarat Aalam Butt, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and many others have been imprisoned under these false allegations”. Rape, he said, is used as a weapon of war with over 10,000 women have been raped by Indian troops without being delivered justice. He also mentioned the Kunanposhpora mass rape and gang-rape of a minor child Asifa Bano by these extremists.

“Freedom, justice and peace, which are core fabric that bind a democratic society together, are non-existent in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” Zaffar Qureshi said and added that humanity, development and prosperity cannot exist without these values enshrined in a democracy.

Hindutva gang warns Kashmiri students against offering prayers in UP varsity

Jammu, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): Extremists associated with a Hindutva organization have threatened with dire consequences students from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for offering prayers at the University campus in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. Activists of the Hindutva organization, All India Hindu Mahasabha, demanded an action against the students. They even threatened to perform shuddhikaran (purification process) in the campus with Ganjajal [Ganga water] and recite Hanuman Chalisa [a Hindu devotional hymn in praise of Hanuman] if the university fails to take any action against the Kashmiri students.

Sanskriti University, siding with the Hindutva extremists, has asked Kashmiri students to restrict worshiping to their hostel and avoid offering namaz in the open. All India Hindu Mahasabha submitted a memorandum to the district administration seeking action against the students as well as the university authorities. “Eighty-two Muslim students are studying in the university. Many of them hail from Jammu and Kashmir. It has been noted that for many days these students are offering namaz on the university campus,” the Hindutva outfit complained.
