Five persons held for betting on cricket matches

Islamabad, January 24, 2018 (PPI-OT):Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad police have arrested five persons betting on a cricket match during raid at a flat in sector E-11, a police spokesman said. He said that Inspector General of Police Islamabad Sultan Azam Temuri and Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Najeeb ur Rehman Bugvi assigned the task to SP (Investigation) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh for effective crackdown against those involved in gambling activities. He constituted a special team headed by DSP Ashraf Shah including ASI Hanif Kamal and others.

This team raided at the house in sector E-11/1 and arrested five persons for betting on cricket matches. Police recovered 16 mobile phones, one lap top, two decoders, five registers and one LED from them. The nabbed persons have been identified as Zubair, Ajab Khan, Kamran, Gulfam and Farhad while further investigation is underway from them. SSP Islamabad Najeeb ur Rehman Bugvi has appreciated this performance of CIA police team.

Commentators for HBL PSL 2018

Lahore, January 22, 2018 (PPI-OT):A star-studded commentators’ line-up is set to keep fans enthralled in the third season of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) that commences in Dubai on February 22. Keeping up with the top-class commentating standards established in the first two seasons, the third season takes a bigger leap with an assembly of superstars. HBL PSL household names Ramiz Raja, Danny Morrison, Alan Wilkins and Bazid Khan would be joined by Australian stars Michael Slater and Damien Fleming while former West Indian Test opener Daren Ganga also makes his HBL PSL commentating debut.

Slater and Fleming were mainstays of Australia’s world beating Test and ODI teams of the late 1990s that carried their winning momentum well past the new millennium. Since retirement, the duo travels around the world lending their voice to leading cricket tournaments including ICC events, their unique commentary styles have captured the imagination of fans all over. Ganga is another significant addition to the commentator’s roster; the West Indian played 48 Tests, 35 ODIs and a solitary T20I for his team, he has established himself in the commentator’s box with his excellent delivery and cricketing expertise which has thrilled the fans around the globe.

HBL PSL 2018 Tickets for Sharjah Matches

Lahore, January 22, 2018 (PPI-OT):Match tickets for the 13 Sharjah matches of the HBL PSL 2018 are up for sale now. There will be two legs played at the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The first leg begins with a match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators on Thursday February 28, the second leg will commence from Tuesday March 13 with a match between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United.

PCB Sports Physiotherapy Level I Course at NCA, Lahore

Lahore, January 22, 2018 (PPI-OT):As per PCB / NCA Game Education Program 2018, PCB Sports Physiotherapy Level I Course has been designed at NCA, Lahore. Proposed itinerary is as following:

SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPY LEVEL I COURSE

Tuesday 13th to Friday 16th February 2018 AT NATIONAL CRICKET ACADEMY,

The four day course will explore the theoretical and practical side of managing sporting injuries with an emphasis on current research. The well reputed presenters all around the country will cover the lectures / workshop on Shoulders; Knee and ankle injuries with focus specifically on Ligaments, tendon and muscles. Enormous information will be given on acute on field management; travelling with sports team and practical component on taping techniques.

35-40 candidates who are DPT, BSPT or MSPT will be selected to participate in this course. The course will be run on self-finance basis and Rupees 35,000/- will be charge from each participants. The fee for foreign participants will be US $ 600 per person. The participant will be given clothing; course material; food and accommodation on three sharing bases (for outstation participant only).

Participants will be allocated the assignments/ dissertations at the end of the course. The participants will remain in contact / supervision of PCB / NCA Sports Medicine Department for three to four month regarding any updates / up gradation. PCB Sports Physiotherapy Level 1 Course Certification will be awarded to those successful candidates who will fulfill following criteria:

1- Submission and Approval of dissertations within three month. (Mandatory to appear in Exam)

2- Successful completion of written, Viva examination with practical demonstration.

Shoaib Malik ruled out from T20I series against New Zealand

Wellington, January 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Tour Management Committee, consisting of Team Manager, Talat Ali, Head Coach, Mickey Arthur and Captain, Sarfraz Ahmed, held a meeting with Pakistan Team Physiotherapist, Vib Singh and Shoaib Malik to discuss his participation in the upcoming 3 match T20I series against New Zealand starting from 22 January.

The committee reviewed the expert advice it received from the top medical consultants in New Zealand after conducting all necessary medical tests of Shoaib Malik has decided, after briefing PCB management, to send him back from New Zealand. The committee was of the opinion that it should give him the best chance to recuperate from the symptoms of the delayed concussion he is currently showing.

“Shoaib Malik suffered a delayed concussion, when he was hit on the head by a wayward throw during the ODI in Hamilton. He has been making good progress since suffering the delayed concussion and is showing daily signs of improvement. He has been advised to rest a minimum of seven to ten days for the concussion to resolve. The decision was made to give him the best chance to continue aiding his prognosis and that he should return home to recover in a familiar and comfortable environment”, said Pakistan Team Physiotherapist, Vib Singh. The Tour Management Committee during the meeting also decided not to call up any replacement for Shoaib Malik for the T20I series.

WAPDA to commence T-12 Cricket Tournament from Monday at Peshawar

Lahore, January 20, 2018 (PPI-OT):The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) T-12 Cricket Tournament for schools will be held from 22-26 January 2018 at Arbab Niaz Stadium Peshawar in a bid to improve the standard of fielding in cricket in Pakistan.

The tournament will be commenced form Monday with prime focus on fielding. As many as 8 schools of Peshawar namely GHS Pahari Pura, GHS Sarwan Cantt, GHS S No. 3, Govt. Centenial Model High School No.2, Al-Imran Memorial School Pushtakhara Payan, Marwah Model School, Peshawar Cambridge School System and Unique Vision School System. WAPDA will invite the winners of Peshawar Cricket tournament to participate in final at Lahore.
