Taxation – Awaam Pakistan Party Urges FBR to Extend Tax Filing Deadline Amid Portal Failures

The Awaam Pakistan Party Balochistan today made an urgent appeal to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to push back the October 15 deadline for income tax returns, citing significant technical malfunctions and slow performance of the FBR”s online portal that are preventing taxpayers from meeting their obligations.

Syed Aman Shah, the Provincial Convener of the party, proposed that the final date for submitting returns for the Tax Year 2025 be moved to October 31, 2025. He highlighted that many taxpayers are struggling to complete the process due to the system”s persistent glitches.

The party’s provincial chief detailed that besides the portal’s poor performance, citizens are also grappling with procedural and logistical bottlenecks. These constraints are making it difficult to gather the necessary financial records for a timely and accurate submission.

Furthermore, Shah pointed out that businesses are facing distinct difficulties in aligning their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with the FBR’s digital invoicing requirements, a situation that is causing considerable delays in compliance.

In his statement, Syed Aman Shah emphasized the need for a taxpayer-friendly approach and urged the FBR to take prompt action. He stressed that an extension would provide much-needed relief, allowing individuals and businesses to fulfill their legal duties without undue stress.
