TeH denounces continued illegal detention of Sopore youth

Srinagar, September 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir (TeH) has strongly denounced the continued illegal detention of a youth, Shabbir Ahmed Mir, of Sopore. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Shabbir Ahmed Mir, a resident of Brath Kalan area of Sopore, was arrested three years ago and was booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act, again and again. It said that a few days before, a court quashed his detention under the PSA and ordered his release. However, it added, the Indian police re-arrested him from the court premises and shifted him to some undisclosed destination.

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat said that Shabbir’s brother, Merajuddin Mir, was lodged at Kathua Jail in Jammu under the PSA and was seriously ill. It said that the father of the detained youth had passed away during their detention. Meanwhile, a delegation of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat visited Chew Kalan area of Pulwama and expressed solidarity with the family of a martyred youth, Fayaz Ahmed Wani. Fayaz was killed in the unprovoked firing of the Indian troops during a cordon and search operation on Monday.
