Three high court judges take oath as SC judges

ISLAMABAD:Three high court judges, including Islamabad High Court’s Chief Justice Athar Mohallah, took oath as Supreme Court judges on Friday. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial administered oath to Justice Athar Mohallah, Justice Shahid Waheed and Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi.

 

Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi was serving at the Sindh High Court, while Justice Shahid Waheed was serving at the Lahore High Court. Justice Athar Mohallah was the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) before his elevation to the apex court. With the elevation of these three judges, the strength of apex court judges has risen to 15 against the sanctioned strength of 17 judges. Now there are two vacant posts of judges in the apex court.
