Turkcell’s Chief Executive Officer meets with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Istanbul

In an important meeting held today in Istanbul, Turkcell’s CEO Ali Tahir Kok and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif discussed strengthening relations in the digital and technology sectors between the two countries.

Prime Minister Sharif outlined the vision of the ‘Pakistan-Turkey Digital Corridor’ to enhance regional digital connectivity. This project aims to facilitate secure cross-border data exchanges and integrate digital infrastructures, promoting a more connected digital ecosystem in the region.

Highlighting Pakistan’s emerging digital landscape, Prime Minister Sharif encouraged Turkcell to explore long-term collaboration opportunities with Pakistani institutions. Key areas for potential cooperation include the implementation of 5G technology, network optimization, and spectrum management, along with efforts for technology transfer.

The Prime Minister urged Turkcell to consider partnerships in local manufacturing of telecommunication equipment and software development. He emphasized the importance of promoting digital skills and capacity building to boost Pakistan’s technology sector, creating opportunities for innovation, job creation, and sustainable economic growth.

Reaffirming the commitment to an investment-friendly environment, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council in supporting strategic investments in information and communication technologies.

In response, Mr. Kok praised Pakistan’s progressive digital transformation agenda and expressed Turkcell’s enthusiasm to explore joint ventures in telecommunications and digital infrastructure. He reiterated the company’s commitment to establishing beneficial partnerships with Pakistani counterparts, aligning with the shared economic and technological aspirations of both countries.
