UNA chief to attend International Research and Practice Conference in Moscow

Jeddah Director General of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) Issa Khaireh Robleh will participate in the International Research and Practice Conference, to be held in Russia’s capital Moscow on March 25, under the theme of Ways to achieve inter-religious peace: the role of theologians.

The conference aims to highlight the important role of religious factor, inter-religious peace, and dialogue amid the globalization as well as growing conflicts and tension paired with the spiritual and ethical crisis. In this respect, Russia is seen as a unique country, where Christianity, Islam, Judaism, and Buddhism have been developing peacefully over many centuries. The established traditions of inter-faith peace were and still are serving the reinforcement of friendship among nations, solidarity of society and prosperity of the fatherland.

The example of Russia and the history of traditional religions show that the modern environment offers no alternative concept of peaceful co-existence of world traditional religions or cultural and civilizational systems.

The goals of this conference also include highlighting inter-religious peace as the paramount social and religious value and studying of the traditions, ways, and experience of strengthening the inter-regional peace and harmonization of inter-ethnical and interreligious relations in various regions of the world.

It further seeks to summarize the historical and contemporary experience of religious organizations, famous theologians, diplomats, and public figures in the field of strengthening the inter-religious peace, which is of high theoretical and practical importance.

The conference will bring together representatives of Russian and foreign state and private educational and research institutions, scientists and experts, and religious, public, and political figures from different countries.

The conference organizers comprise the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia; the Council for Interaction with Religious Associations under the President of the Russian Federation; the Russian Orthodox Church; the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society; the Russian Association for Protection of Religious Freedom; the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences; the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO). The event will be held with assistance from the Fund to Support Islamic Culture, Science and Education.

Accompanying events during the conference include an exhibition dedicated to employees of the Russian foreign service, in addition to an exhibition of works by famous Chinese calligrapher Haji Nooruddin.
