Health experts on Friday underscored the critical importance of early diagnosis and public education in the fight against breast cancer, a virulent disease affecting a significant portion of the female population.
This was stated at an awareness event at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS). The university, in a joint effort with the Pink Ribbon Organization, hosted a seminar and an awareness walk under the theme ‘Together We Can Defeat Breast Cancer’ at its City Campus. The initiative aimed to enlighten students, faculty, and the wider community about the life-saving potential of early intervention.
The procession was led by Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science. She was joined by prominent figures including Pink Ribbon Pakistan CEO Dr. Omar Aftab, Dr. Jawaria Ali Khan, and Medical Officer Dr. Shamsa Rauf Rao, along with a large number of students and faculty members who took part in the walk.
Following the walk, a comprehensive symposium was held where speakers addressed various facets of the illness. The discussions covered the objectives of the breast cancer campaign, the significant role of diet and lifestyle, as well as crucial information on prevention, management, and available treatment options.
The primary goal of the gathering was to disseminate vital information regarding diagnostic methods and treatment techniques. The event highlighted the necessity of prompt diagnosis and effective patient management, seeking to empower the public, especially women, with the knowledge to combat the ailment.
