NAUNDERO: Residents of Pir Jo Goth held a large protest demonstration at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Press Club here on Wednesday against USAID school administration of their village which has allegedly denied admission to their kids in Early Child Class. The USAID schools are being managed by the HANDS organization in the entire Larkana district including Pir Jo Goth, Zakria Mahesar, Saidu Dero, Phulpota and other villages.

Protesters including Haji Shafan Shah, Niaz Kalhoro, Farman Shah, Zamir Qadri, Owais Kumbhar, Barkat Arbani, Aziz Dayo and others said while talking to media persons that after closing primary school in the village, newly constructed USAID school was started under the management of HANDS conditionally that our children will get better educational atmosphere and standard of education will be improved.

They said that they propagated at the very outset that education will be imparted from Early Child class to Matric but now they have refused to admit kids in Early Child class asking their parents to get their children admitted in another Middle School of nearby village Mohil which is unacceptable. They questioned how is it possible that minor kids go by foot to another village daily by crossing guava orchids? When crime against children is rampant in the area including sexual assault cases.

Inam Kalhoro, District Education Manager, HANDS, when contacted said that there are only eight classrooms in the school where admission from first to eighth grade has been made and there is no extra room for Early Child class in the school. He said that we have to run classes up to Matric. He said that the admitted children will when be promoted to another class we will face shortage of classrooms hence we are thinking of shifting Early Class to fifth class children to Government Middle School of Mohil village and this school will be fixed for sixth to matric classes only so that proper education could be given to the students.
