The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday arrested a woman allegedly involved in a major overseas employment scandal, who had extorted a large sum of money from a citizen by falsely promising a job in Norway.
The accused, identified as Syeda Asba, was taken into custody by officials from the FIA’s Anti-Human Trafficking Circle.
According to the complaint, the accused allegedly extorted 500,000 rupees from a person on the pretext of arranging his relocation and employment in the European country.
Further investigation confirmed that the woman was operating without the required legal authorization, as she failed to produce a valid Overseas Employment Promoter license, which is mandatory for recruiting agents.
