The Women Complaint Cell in Jamshoro today made a firm commitment to provide comprehensive legal and psychological aid to women suffering in silence from domestic violence, harassment, and suicidal thoughts, marking a significant observance of World Mental Health Day.
Deputy Commissioner Jamshoro Ghazanfar Ali Qadri highlighted the pervasive nature of psychological challenges in the contemporary world. “In the present era, everyone is suffering from various kinds of mental health issues,” he noted, citing stress, depression, and anxiety as common problems and underscoring the necessity for greater public awareness.
The event, held under the directives of Provincial Minister for Women Development Ms. Shahina Sher Ali, was led by Senior Psychologist and cell In-charge, Ms. Sayeda Qurat ul Ain. She emphasized that a large number of women endure various psychological pressures without seeking help.
“Mental well-being is very important for a healthy society,” stated Ms. Sayeda. She detailed the support system available, explaining, “All women who are victims of domestic violence, harassment, suicidal thoughts, or other issues fundamentally related to their mental health can approach us. We, as a department, provide all kinds of legal and psychological assistance to them for their proper rehabilitation.”
The primary goal of commemorating the day was to disseminate widespread information about mental health concerns, aiming to reduce stigma and cultivate a better, less stressful community.
Officials announced a future initiative to further this cause. In the coming week, the Women Development Department will collaborate with the District Administration Jamshoro to conduct a session on the importance of mental wellness, with invitations extended to other governmental departments.
The department strongly encourages any woman facing mental health difficulties to confidentially contact the complaint cell and utilize the services offered.
