Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi, in his message on World Thalassaemia Day, said today that thalassaemia patients deserve special attention, compassion, and collective support.
He said that blood tests and genetic screening before marriage are effective measures for the prevention of thalassaemia.
Hashmi further said that donating blood is a great humanitarian act and a means of saving many lives. He added that awareness campaigns against thalassaemia are a shared social responsibility for all.
He said that Thalassaemia Week was formally launched at Governor House Sindh a week earlier. Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi stated that the government is continuing practical measures to provide treatment and facilities for thalassaemia patients.
Hashmi added that creating awareness among the younger generation about thalassaemia prevention is essential for ensuring a healthy and safe future.
