young man was shot dead by armed assailants in Khairpur on Monday as he was on his way to a court hearing, while in another incident, an undertrial prisoner died of illness at a local hospital.
The victim of the shooting was identified as Munir Ahmed Khawaja, a resident of Ahmedpur. He was going to Khairpur Court for a scheduled hearing when he was attacked.
Mr. Khawaja sustained severe gunshot wounds and was rushed to Civil Hospital in critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
According to the latest reports, a formal case of the fatal attack had not been registered by the authorities.
Meanwhile, a prisoner of Central Jail Khairpur, Shahbaz Dino son of Rasool Bux, passed away last night. He was admitted to the jail ward of Civil Hospital due to illness.
According to official sources, the deceased had been imprisoned for three years in connection with a murder case.
