Former Federal Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan has stressed that youth should be taught skills, the country’s destiny can be changed with IT and also that the country’s economic development depends primarily on the agricultural sector, and said that the development of farmers is the guarantee of national prosperity.
During a meeting with a representative delegation of dignitaries, farmers, and traders in Lahore on Sunday morning, Khan said, “We openly say that the wheel of the economy will only turn when agriculture develops.” He argued that recognizing the services of farmers will encourage higher yields and the country will become self-sufficient in food.
The former minister also described information technology as a key force for national transformation and stated that efforts are underway to establish skills and IT-based educational institutions in his constituency NA-97. He emphasized the need for measures to integrate vocational training with traditional education for the youth.
Speaking on local issues, Khan described constituency NA-97 as deprived of basic facilities and suffering from a lack of development. He reiterated his commitment to ending this “widespread deprivation” and bringing development and prosperity to the area.
Khan also informed the delegation about his recent discussions with Federal Minister for Energy Ali Pervaiz Malik and Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan. According to reports, these talks focused on resolving issues related to the supply of Sui gas and road construction in the constituency.
