Cardiac Satellite Center opens in Thar

KARACHI: National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases(NICVD) in collaboration with the Government of Sindh has established its 7th state-of-the-art cardiac centre in Thar at Shams-Ul-Arfeen Memon Cardiac Centre, DHQ Hospital (Civil Hospital) Mithi to provide Cardiovascular Services to the people of Sindh Province at their doorstep totally free of cost.

Talking with the media at the occasion, Executive Director NICVD, Prof Nadeem Qamar said that it gives him immense pleasure that NICVD has opened its 7th state-of-the-art satellite centre in Mithi.

It is the matter of great pride that NICVD Mithi comprises of cardiac facilities of international standard and will be able to provide quality heart health care services in collaboration with the Government of Sindh to the people of Sindh at their doorstep for free.

He added that NICVD has brought both comprehensive diagnostic and treatment modalities to the population of interior Sindh with quality and care. With the same state-of-the-art cardiac facilities, NICVD has stepped into this region of Sindh province and has started Cardiac Emergency, Interventional Cardiology including Primary PCI (Angioplasty during heart attack), Adult and Paediatric Cardiology, Consulting Clinics, Echocardiography, Critical Care for the population of this district and its peripheries.

He further said that in last one year NICVD had established 6state-of-the-art cardiac satellite centers, where patients are being provided world’s best cardiac facilities free of cost. He said that NICVD Centres at Larkana, Tando Mohammad Khan, Hyderabad, Sehwan, Sukkur and Nawabshah have been doing wonders and saving lives. 1,256 procedures at NICVD Larkana, 1,070 at NICVD Tando Mohammad Khan, 714 at NICVD Hyderabad, 297 at NICVD Sehwan, 588 at NICVD Sukkur and 79 at NICVD Nawabshah were performed successfully to treat heart patients since the inception of these centres in April 2017, October 2017, November 2017, December 2017, February 2018 and April 2018 respectively till April 30, 2018.

He further added that NICVD is opening one more such center in Khairpur, which will be operational during this month.
