Driver injured after oil tanker set on fire at Kathore

KARACHI:An oil tanker driver received severe burn injuries when unknown miscreant set his oil tanker truck on fire with flammable substance at Kathore on Superhighway on Friday.

According to police sources, the oil tanker was set on fire by unknown suspects with flammable substances. The driver sustained burn injuries to over 90 per cent of his body.

Following the incident, Oil Tanker Contractor Association head Babar Ismail, showed concern over safety of drivers and announced that oil supply was stopped till security provided to them.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Sindh Police Amjad Javed Saleemi took a notice after media reports about the incident and sought detailed report from relevant DIG.

However, SSP Malir Munir Sheikh said that an investigation has been started into the incident, and soon culprits had been arrested.
