Governor reviews arrangements to take control of three hospitals

KARACHI:Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza held a meeting with heads of three major hospitals of Karachi at Governor House on Friday to take administrative control of these institutions.

During meeting, Executive Director Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Dr Seemin Jamali, Executive Director National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Prof Dr Nadeem Qamar and Executive Director National Institute of Child Health (NICH) Prof Dr Jamal Raza gave detailed briefings about functioning of their respective health facilities, budget, assets, shortage of staff and other problems.

Secretary Ministry of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination (NHSRC) Allah Bakhsh Malik and Director General Health NHSRC Asad Hafeez were also present.

On this occasion, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail said the federal government will ensure implementation on Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) judgment by taking administrative control of the JPMC, NICVD and NICH.

Earlier, Minister of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination Government of Pakistan had sought lists of assets, sanctioned strength (posts filled/vacant), list of officers, seniority list of officers and budget estimates for financial year 2020-21 of three major hospitals of Karachi in pursuance of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) judgment dated 17/01/2019 in civil appeals No 125-131-K etc and CMA’s No 1254 -F and 8973 of 2019 and civil petition 23121 of 2016.
