Govt’s health priority in question: Nurses continue strike in Sindh

KARACHI:The nurses of Sindh under the banner of Sindh Nurses Alliance continued two hours token strike across the Sindh province on second consecutive day on Tuesday over delay in issuance of notification by the Sindh health department.

The nurses organizations have resumed protest throughout the province following the end of deadline given by Sindh health department on 06 May 2019. The Sindh health department could not progress on the issue of health professional allowance, four-tier formula, students stipends, DDO powers, announcement of new hiring through Sindh Public Services Commission and others despite the passage of two weeks.

The representatives of Sindh Nurses Alliance said delay in approval of summery is the violation of written agreement signed by the representatives of nurses organizations, Secretary Health Sindh, Commissioner Karachi and Provincial Minister of Sindh for Local Government Saeed Ghani.

The nurses said two hour token strike would continue till Eid ul Fitr and they will announce future line of action after Eid.

It was pertinent to mention here that Sindh Nurses Alliance ended its eight-day-long protest demonstration and boycotted duties after assurance by Provincial Minister Sindh for Local Government Saeed Ghnai and others on 06 May 2019.

The nurses of Sindh completely boycotted emergency duties, including intensive care unit (ICU), pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), cardiac intensive care unit (CICU), labour rooms, operation theaters and wards for a week across the province.
