Industries dept faces employees shortage

LARKANA:The Regional Office of Sindh Small Industries (SSI) was established here in 1989 which consists of three small industrial estates which include Larkana, Kandhkot and Shikarpur. This was revealed by the SSI Director, Abdul Nadim Qureshi, while briefing Muhammad Bux Mahar, Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser for Sports, Industries and Youth Affairs during a meeting at Darbar Hall here on Tuesday.

He said Training Centers, Handicrafts, Development Centers were working in Kashmore and Moenjo Daro. He said Small Industrial Estate was working in Larkana since 1962-63 which spread on 59.05 acres having 313 different size plots. He said category A consists of 1000 sq yards, category B 555 sq yards and category C 333 sq yards. He said in Shikarpur, Small Industrial Estate was established in 1984-85 whereas in Kandhkot, it was established in 1985-86 on 14.32 acres.

The meeting was also attended among others by Secretary, Industries Department, Abdul Hakim Shaikh, Deputy Commissioner, Muhammad Noman Siddique, and others.

Assistant Director Industries told the meeting that Industries Department was providing facilities to businessmen, general public and its offices were located in entire Larkana division.

While talking to newsmen, Mahar said that 87% of the Industrial Estate work had been completed. He said Industries Department was facing shortage of employees and a lot of other issues which they were trying to overcome. He said they would provide maximum facilities to the industrialists so that the country could make progress economically. He said they were also trying to build proper infrastructure. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan himself was sportsman and Sindh had not yet been given some things which they should be handed over for betterment of sports. Later, he also visited Economic Zone which was being established in Areeja Village.
