Mayor assures continuing support of KMC to KMDC

Karachi: Mayor Karachi WaseemAkhtar has said the Karachi Medical & Dental College is unique in many ways as this is the only medical and dental college run by a metropolitan corporation and the first medical college in the public sector in Karachi to have a dental section.

The KMDC was the pioneer of entrance test which is now mandatory in both private and public sector medical institutions all over the country.

He was speaking as chief guest in the 5th Convocation of the Karachi Medical & Dental College which is also its Silver Jubilee event.

Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi Prof.Dr. M. Ajmal Khan, Chairman DMC East MoeedAnwer, Chairman DMC central RehanHashmi, metropolitan commissioner Dr. Asghar Abbas, chairman law committee Arif Khan advocate, chairman finance committee NadeemHidayatHashmi, chairperson medical committee Naheed Fatima, Senior director medical services Dr. Birbal, principal KMDC Dr. NargisAnjum, Sr. Director Coordination MasoodAlam and other officers and elected representatives were also present.

Mayor said the academic standards of Karachi Medical & Dental College are high and performance of students in the professional and postgraduate examinations is comparable to the other more established colleges.

He said it is our priority to take interest in maintaining the health service standards at the AbbasiShaheed Hospital, the affiliated teaching hospital of Karachi Medical & Dental College.

He on this occasion assured full and continued support to the principal of Karachi Medical & Dental College, the Director Medical services, MS of AbbasiShaheed Hospital and the faculty members of the Karachi Medical & Dental College in any further development plans.

He said the convocation is indeed a day of the graduates and very happy occasion for the students, their families and the teachers. This is an important mile stone in their professional career when they are graduating and entering in practical life where they will have to face enormous challenges

Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi Prof. Dr. M. Ajmal Khan said the Karachi Medical & Dental College achieved significant progress in the field of medical education and became a recognized medical institution of the country.

Earlier the vice chairperson of the convocation committee Dr. Tazeen Fatima Munim presented the welcome address whereas principal Dr, NargisAnjum gave details of the progress of the college.

The secretary of the convocation committee Dr. Nasir Ali Khan thanked all the guests and the participants.
